Plane Crash Most Likely Accidental

WASHINGTON?An accident rather than terrorism probably caused an American Airlines jet to plunge into a neighborhood in New York, federal officials said Monday. Investigators focused on an engine that fell away from the doomed plane. The investigators swiftly reviewed the plane's maintenance records, but initially found "nothing indicative of a specific problem," said director Marion Blakey of the National Transportation Safety Board.

Issues May Start New WTO Talks

DOHA, Qatar?With a deadline looming, movement on two issues important to the United States raised hopes Monday that the World Trade Organization would clinch a deal allowing a new round of global trade talks to start. Progress was reported on the text of a document that would assure poor countries that WTO rules protecting patents on pharmaceuticals developed by big drug companies in the West don't prevent them from responding to public health crises like AIDS.

Israelis Arrest 45 Residents, Kill 1

TEL, West Bank?In a 10 hour raid Monday on a Palestinian village, Israeli troops killed an Islamic militant and arrested 45 residents, including 16 on Israel's wanted list. Israel also continued to hold parts of two Palestinian towns in the northern part of the West Bank.

Spanish-Speaking Teens Mentor Kids

The 35 high school students are assigned to schools within Provo School District to tutor other Spanish-speaking students.
