IOC Disapproves of Athens Security

ATHENS, Greece?The International Olympic Committee's chief overseer said Wednesday there were holes in the 2004 Games security package for transportation and venues. Denis Oswald, an IOC member from Switzerland and chairman of the coordination commission for Athens, told organizers to have a comprehensive strategy ready by the end of his visit on Friday.

Softball Happy to See Aggies; Gets Easy Win

For the fourth consecutive time, the U softball team defeated in-state rival Utah State, winning 6-2 in Logan, Utah, Tuesday afternoon. Molly McLean led off the game with a base hit, which was followed by another base hit from Masie Ota. Leaders Want to Cut Budget for Presenter’s Office in Half

If certain members of the Student Senate and General Assembly have their way, the Presenter's Office will lose nearly half of its budget to fund the fledgling college student councils. Humanities Sen. Sam Swenson and architecture General Assembly member Aaron Titus submitted a bill Monday that could add a provision to Redbook, the constitution and bylaws of the Associated Students of the University of Utah, guaranteeing the college student councils 18 percent of the ASUU budget.

Regents Finalize Tuition Hikes

The state Board of Regents finalized tuition increases for Utah's public colleges and universities Tuesday, while asking institution presidents to increase awareness about available financial aid. In March, Regents approved a 3.5 percent tuition increase for all state institutions.
