AL East Belongs Not to Red Sox, But the Yankees

The start of the baseball season is truly the great equalizer, when 30 teams begin the season tied for first place. Hope springs eternal as grown men emerge from their winter slumber to play a boys' game. And though everyone begins the season with high hopes, a few teams will see their whispers turn to shouting when the dog days of summer separate the contenders from the pack.

Letter to the Editor: Unreasonable Gun Phobias

Editor: Students attend the U for an education, but most don't even bother to educate themselves about guns, gun control, concealed weapon permits, or the gun debate before foaming at the mouth in anti-Second Amendment rhetoric. So it's time for an education.

Turkey Officials Seize Morphine

ISTANBUL, Turkey?Seven suspects have been arraigned in Turkey in connection with the seizure of an estimated $29 million worth of unrefined morphine from Afghanistan. Some 7.5 tons of crude morphine, an opium extract used to produce heroin, were confiscated over the weekend in a raid on carpenter's studio in a village in the northwestern province of Sakarya.
