Alcohol Intoxication Ruled Official Cause of Death in U. Maryland Case

Michelle Rothman The Diamondback University of Maryland COLLEGE PARK, Md.?The state medical examiner's office named acute alcohol intoxication as the cause of University of Maryland freshman Daniel Reardon's Feb. 14 death, but details about complications surrounding Reardon's death have not been released to the public because of the ongoing police investigation.

Yellowstone Findings Feature of Workshop

The concept of theme housing is nothing new to universities across the country, but at the U, it is an exciting new prospect for students.

Baseball to Clash With SDSU

Even though the U baseball team has faced two conference opponents, its series with San Diego State starting today will allow it to see how far the team has come, and how far it can go. San Diego State has a record of 21-9, is ranked No. 38 in the nation and head coach Jim Deitz is adding more wins to move up the list in total all time wins, and he's already seventh.

Put them under the direction of a Boeing 737 pilot instructor, a guy who moved across the country just to ski and an employee of the Salt Lake City School District in the Department of Multicultural Education and Foreign Language and they become downright eccentric.

Gymnasts Take It Easy Before Regionals

For the No. 4 Utah gymnastics team, the best preparation for its NCAA Regionals competition April 6 in Corvallis, Ore., is to take it easy. Coming off the school's first 198 score and the second highest mark in collegiate gymnastics history, coach Greg Marsden isn't eager to change anything in search of the school's 11 national championship.

Men’s Tennis to Play at Weber State

Coming off a crushing win over Idaho State, the U men's tennis team will travel north to Ogden for a match with in state rival Weber State today. The match, which begins at 1 p.m., will be the second match in three days for the Utes, who just came off 12 days of rest.

Soccer Team Adds Recruit Carisse Winegar

The U soccer team and new head coach Rich Manning added another player to their quest for the NCAA Tournament. Carisse Winegar, from Bountiful High School in Bountiful, Utah, officially signed on to the U squad. Winegar brings a great amount of athleticism to the Utes, as she lettered in three sports with Bountiful.

Outdoor Track Slate to Begin This Weekend

The last stage of the track season is on, as the U outdoor track and field team will begin the season this weekend in the Stanford Distance Carnival. High school, college and professional runners will be competing at the tournament in Palo Alto, Calif. This will be the final stage of the first season for coaches Brian Appell and Lisa Collet.

U Softball Team Looks to Get Back to Wnning

The U softball team hasn't played a game since March 16. Its members are currently riding a seven-game losing streak, and they have a much poorer than expected 10-26 record. But all that is irrelevant as conference play begins today in San Diego for the Utes.
