Sharon Criticized for Palestine War

WASHINGTON?Secretary of State Colin Powell reproached Prime Minister Ariel Sharon on Wednesday for declaring war on the Palestinians and advised him "to take a hard look at his policies.'' "If you declare war against the Palestinians and think you can solve the problem by seeing how many Palestinians can be killed?I don't know if that leads you anywhere,'' Powell said.

ASUU Adds More Features to Web Site

Student government members say they want to be useful. They want students to buy and sell books, download documents, post news and find information through their Web site, www.asuu.utah.edu. After five months of work, the Associated Students of the University of Utah has added an online document section and a news section where any registered student can post news and information.

U Geographers Study Crisis Traffic Patterns

U geography professors are working on a study to help everyone get home safely and quickly. The study, in its third year, identifies hazards to transportation systems caused by natural disasters and studyies the vulnerabilities of transportation networks in the event of an attack.

9.3% Tuition Hike Proposed For Next Year

A bad budget year forced U administrators to propose a 9.3 percent tuition increase next year. "We are not making students fix the problem, we are just asking them to help," Paul Brinkman said. As associate vice president for budget and planning, Brinkman spent the majority of the past week at his desk in the Park Building crunching numbers to come up with this figure, which will equate to an extra $284 in tuition for the year.

TBILISI, Georgia?U.S. plans to train Georgian troops in anti-terrorist operations have prompted some Chechen rebels to leave the Pankisi Gorge even before the American soldiers arrive, Georgia's deputy defense minister said Thursday. Gela Bezhuashvili said the government has been conducting a public relations campaign in the tense region along the border with the Russian separatist province of Chechnya about Georgia's growing determination to restore order.
