Greeks Rent 4 Houses to SLOC During Games

For four chapters of U's Greek Row, the Winter Olympics will be a little closer to home. Sororities Alpha Chi Omega and Chi Omega and fraternities Sigma Chi and Beta Theta Pi have rented out their houses to the Salt Lake Organizing Committee for the Games next month.

Men Face BYU Tonight In ESPN’s ‘Big Monday’

Utah enters its ESPN Big Monday matchup against BYU with an 11-game winning streak, not having lost since Dec. 4. The Utes also own a 46-game home conference winning streak, dating back to 1996. BYU has won its last four games televised on ESPN, but the Cougs have lost two consecutive games, and their last five away games.

WASHINGTON?Hamid Karzai, Afghanistan's interim leader, meets President Bush today seeking a continuing U.S. commitment to help restore the peace in Afganistan, officials said. Before leaving for the United States, Karzai told Afghan television that he would use the trip to push for the expansion of a multinational peacekeeping force into the rest of Afghanistan.

The Cougars are simply a better team. Rumsfeld Denies POW Status to Detaines

GUANTANAMO BAY NAVAL BASE, Cuba?Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld on Sunday ruled out any possibility of granting prisoner of war status to the suspected terrorists held in a makeshift prison on this U.S. Naval Base. "They are not POWs. They will not be determined to be POWs," Rumsfeld told reporters accompanying him on his first visit to the detention facility.
