Letter to the Editor: Guns Are Just Something to Argue About

Editor: I have not followed too closely the policy changes that have taken place recently concerning firearms. I would like to know what the exact current ordinance is and what it was changed from. I know that concealed weapons are now not permitted on campus and that by now people think that there will be no more gun violence on campus.

Former Ambassador Predicts Outcomes to Middle East Conflict

Former U.S. Ambassador to Israel Martin Indyk predicted possible outcomes of the current Palestinian-Israeli stalemate. He spoke Wednesday at a lecture sponsored by Middle East Center in the Fine Arts Auditorium. After describing the current situation as the "most bitter conflict ever" between the two sides, Indyk gave both bleak and optimistic predictions.

Hinckley Institute Receives Grant for Local Internships

The Hinckley Institute of Politics received a grant from the R. Harold Burton Foundation to fund local, paid internships. There are 10 internships available, five are targeted to minority applicants. All interested students are eligible. Selected interns will receive pay and political science credit.

LAUSANNE, Switzerland?A U.S. animal rights campaigner detained at the headquarters of the International Olympic Committee while dressed as a cow was charged with violating a city ordinance on public order. Sean Gifford, a member of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, was detained Wednesday and released.
