On Jan. 9, the U was scheduled to lose 650 parking spots to the Olympics, but it didn't. Salt Lake Organizing Committee officials announced they would not need the spots until Jan 18. "It helps us out a lot," said Alma Allred, director of Transportation and Parking Services.

Reproducing Geometric Hallucination A team of researchers that includes U Mathematics Professor Paul Bressloff created a model explaining how the brain generates geometric hallucination. Using what is already known about the visual cortex, the area of the brain responsible for vision, the scientists deduced its circuitry and mathematically reproduced the geometric patterns.
