Researchers have successfully preserved the eyesight of rats by transplanting cells into their diseased eyes. The result gives hope to the 25 million people worldwide afflicted with retinal degenerative diseases, the leading cause of blindness in industrialized countries.

I love money. Who doesn't? The prospect of getting more cash from another job always interests me, and always will. However, should it be the defining factor in taking or leaving a certain job? The sports world seems always to have players and coaches leaving a certain position for another team for more money, even though they had been doing very well at their previous locations.

Volunteers Prepare for Olympic Games

When Salt Lake City was awarded the Olympic bid for 2002, Chris Keeler participated in the celebration held downtown for the announcement. "I've been looking forward to [the Olympics] ever since," the senior studying public relations said. Keeler, along with 3,122 U students, will volunteer during the Olympic Games.

Michelle Farnsworth's alarm clock went off before 5:30 a.m. She quickly got ready for school in order to catch the 6:26 train at 4500 South to arrive at the Social and Behavioral Sciences Tower by 7:30 for class. She boarded the north-south TRAX line which was packed with construction workers and peppered with students.

Greek Row Elects a New Slate of Leaders

A new slate of Greek Council members to be sworn in Monday now assumes the roles of peacemakers with neighbors and recruiters with the student body. This year Rebecca McAdams will serve as the Panhellenic Council president and Cory Peterson will serve as the Interfraternity Council president.

Students Using ASUU Child Care More Frequently

The latest option in child care for children of U students is quickly filling up. The Associated Students of the University of Utah Child Care Center, a facility that can care for 80 children daily, is almost filled to capacity. The facility opened Oct. 3, but ran at only 30 percent of its capacity as few children used the center last semester.
