Women Netters Fall to Sixth in League

This year's U women's tennis team hoped to see a different kind of season than in years past, considering that the team would be at full strength for the first time in ages. After a lackluster regular season, the Utes still hoped to finish much better in the Mountain West Conference Championships.

Baseball Takes Two Vs. Aztecs

The third game of each series has been the money game for the U baseball team, as Mitch Maio takes the hill and is usually able to shut the opposing team down. This weekend, the Utes headed down to San Diego to take on the conference-leading San Diego State Aztecs in a critical series for the Utes.

Little Drama Left in Watching NBA

In the midst of final take home exams, extensive studying, and catching up on readings I never got to, I could not help but sit down to a Sunday afternoon of basketball to accept the depressing realities of the NBA Playoffs. First, the series that promised to be the best of the first round turned out to be a warm-up for repeat champions, the Los Angeles Lakers.

White Defeats Red in Spring Football Game

The first scoring attempt of Saturday's Red-White Game involving the U football team went awry when the White squad, despite the lack of a disallowed rush, still botched a field goal try. The snap went high, the hold was fumbled, freshman kicker Bryan Borreson ran on by without a kick, as the timing was all screwed up? And action stopped.

U Men’s Tennis Loses Last Two; Is 4th at MWCs

The U men's tennis team finished its Las Vegas trip to the Mountain West Conference Championships in fourth place. Following an impressive first- round win over UNLV, 4-3, the Utes could not get past San Diego State, losing 4-0 (in the MWCs, once a team has won four matches, the other matches are then stopped immediately, as there is no reason to continue them because a winner is already determined).

Electronic Sign Is Senior Class Gift

This year, the Senior Class Council wants to contribute a large electronic sign as its parting gift to the U. Publicizing the events and services available to students through ASUU was the council's main motivation in selecting an electronic sign as the senior class gift, according to Clara Pugsley, senior class president.

Panel Criticizes Post 9/11 Gov’t Policies

The strength and state of the nation's democracy following the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11 was the subject of a panel discussion Wednesday afternoon at the Hinckley Institute of Politics. The five-person panel was critical of President Bush's policies toward immigrants and international students in the wake of the attacks.

U Honors Students In Health Program

April 25, 2002
Eighty high school students were awarded certificates of completion by the U's Health Professions Academy on Tuesday morning. The completion ceremony in the Marriott Library's Gould Auditorium was a collaborative effort of Salt Lake City School District and the U's Health Sciences Center.
