A starting pitcher's mentality compared to a relief pitcher's is completely different. Not only does the pitcher have to pitch more innings, but he can't go as hard at every batter since the pitcher has to worry about stamina and fatigue. Making the transition from the bullpen to taking the hill at the beginning of the game is seemingly impossible to many, however, U senior Mitch Maio was able to successfully make the change after being the primary closer for his first three years in a Ute uniform.

Inappropriate classroom comments necessitate that the U remove Amadou Niang from his current position. A teaching assistant for Professor Karen Johnson's African-American Experience class, Niang has landed himself in a bit of hot water recently. In between student presentations, Niang asked how many students belong to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, then he said that their church is guilty of institutional racism and insinuated that the students are guilty of racism by association.

Strike Hampers Venezuelan Oil

CARACAS, Venezuela?One of the world's largest oil refineries virtually shut down, and industries and businesses closed Tuesday during a general strike that Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez tried to keep off radio and TV. Large industry and commerce closed after the 1 million-member Venezuelan Workers Confederation and Fedecamaras, Venezuela's largest business federation, called a 24-hour nationwide strike supporting an ongoing work slowdown at the government oil monopoly Petroleos de Venezuela, or PDVSA.

Four Arrested for U.S. Terrorism Conspiracy

NEW YORK?An attorney and three other people were indicted Tuesday on charges they provided support to the Egyptian-based terrorist organization known as the Islamic Group. The indictment accuses the defendants of supporting the organization by passing messages regarding Islamic Group activities "to and from the imprisoned Sheik Omar Abdel-Rahman.
