Students need grad programs during recession

The graduate school could serve its interests and the interests of potential students by leaving tuition rates as low as possible and admitting more students. More students would have the benefit and advantage of higher education and the U would receive more operating cash as a result of increased admissions.

Second half shows Utes’ skill

It's been three weeks since the Runnin' Utes have come up short against an opponent. That time frame would have been significantly shorter if not for the U men's basketball team's ability to come back from a first half deficit.

Student protestors less active today

Students during the 1960s fought against what they considered unjust government restriction to protest, and students now are fighting similar battles for their beliefs. In the past year alone, students have taken an active interest protesting animal research, gay rights and budget cuts to state schools.

Police suspect embers from a fire pit burning outside the Union could have been the source of a fire that torched one of the building's overhangs Saturday morning. By the time firefighters put out the flames, the damage mounted to $5,000, according to the police report.
