House: Library terrace shouldn’t be exclusive

When the Marriot Library reopens next month, students will find a portion of it off-limits. The balcony overlooking Rice-Eccles Stadium was originally planned to be a simple area where students could visit and study. It was to be a cement patio with a railing, and was designed primarily to be just a roof for the Automated Retrieval Center.

Museum construction moves hikers elsewhere

Sarah George thinks the current building for the Utah Museum of Natural History is falling apart around her. The George Thomas Building, which houses the museum, was built during the Great Depression and is beginning to deteriorate, putting its collections in jeopardy, said George, the museum's executive director.

Utes to play Notre Dame in 2010

The U football team continued its aggressive pursuit of strengthening its schedule in an agreement with one the most storied college football team in the country. The Utes have agreed to travel to South Bend, Ind., to take on the Notre Dame Fightin' Irish for the 2010 football season.

The Utah State Board of Regents selected William A. Sederburg to be Utah's new Commissioner of Higher Education early in July.
