Skiing: Biathlete wins two national titles

Although the ski team's season ended a couple of weeks ago, cross-country skier Annelies Cook has been hard at work. Last weekend at the North American/U.S. National Championships in Coleraine, Minn., her hard work paid off as Cook won two national biathlon titles.

Institute students honor favorite professor

Gregory Owens hasn't been teaching at the U for long, but students seem to have taken a liking to his interactive teaching style. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Institute of Religion at the U recently chose Owens as the recipient of its annual Excellence in Education Award.

The U athletic budget just got a little bigger. Former Utah standout and current Carolina Panthers star wide receiver Steve Smith was on campus Wednesday afternoon to pledge a $250,000 donation to the athletics department to endow a scholarship for a wide receiver.
