By By Makena Walsh November 9, 2007
Nov. 9 De La Soul 23rd Floor of the Wells Fargo Building (299 S. Main Street) 7 p.m. $40 The influence of this seminal hip-hop group can be witnessed everywhere from the rock 'n' roll sampling on a Trick Daddy song, to a vignette-heavy Eminem album. Comic Mania

By By Adam Fifield November 9, 2007
Given 24 hours to produce 24 pages of comics, with plenty of caffeine and a troupe of comic-book aficionados crammed into the same room, some bizarre things are sure to happen. For example, take the following premise: two young boys owe more than $200 in quarters -- to whom remains a mystery -- but following their run-in with "Bearclaw" and other members of the Pirate Club (and, inexplicably, a giant, mechanical worm), the boys meet their ultimate demise.

His journey begins tonight as the Utes play host to South Carolina Upstate in the season-opener for both teams. Fittingly, as the Utes open up their 100th season of Utah basketball, Boylen will attempt to establish his career with the Utes by using the same principles -- primarily defense, toughness and smart play -- that coaches like Vadal Peterson, Jack Gardner and Rick Majerus used to build up Utah's basketball program in the past.

Mackie gets sneak preview of Red Rocks

November 9, 2007
Upon first entering the Dumke Center for the U gymnastic team's practice Thursday night, all seemed normal. Kristina Baskett was giggling with Nina Kim. Ashley Postell was sprawled out on a mat stretching. Katie Kavisto was adjusting her elbow brace. Even freshman the presence of a few new faces like freshmen Jacquelyn Johnson and Kyndal Robarts wasn't too jolting given the fact that the Red Rocks are now preparing for the 2008 season.

Avenged Sevenfold Avenged Sevenfold Warner Brothers Records Two out of five stars Love 'em or hate 'em, pop metallers Avenged Sevenfold know how to write a solid rock song. The Maiden-influenced power metal of "Afterlife" and "Lost" make this skill epically clear as M.

Let the public use the land

By By Janice Kopaunik November 9, 2007
We are really lucky to live in Utah. This state has so much to offer. We have hundreds of miles of undeveloped land within arms' reach. Less than an hour's drive of almost anywhere within the state will bring you to a national park. Unlike many people in the nation, we have a chance to discover the outdoors.
