By By Clayton Norlen October 1, 2007
The American West Center held a housewarming ceremony on Sept. 26 to celebrate its relocation to the historic area surrounding Fort Douglas. October 1, 2007
Construction on a new Univerity Hospital helicopter landing pad was completed last week, allowing emergency personnel to quickly rescue and transfer patients in critical condition to emergency rooms. October 1, 2007
Terminally ill patients with low incomes or no insurance are often thought to be more likely to request doctor-assisted suicide, but a new study says these assumptions are false. It was a time when a year's tuition cost $200, barracks were used as classrooms and the majority of students were WWII veterans. More than 30 U emeritus alumni, students who graduated more than 40 years ago, gathered at the Alumni House last Thursday to reminisce about their days at the U and how the campus has since changed.

Letter: Columbia University engaged in political propaganda

October 1, 2007
Editor: As a graduate student at the U, I am a fierce advocate for this country's universities and their responsibility to promote free speech and discourse that enhances and expands our understanding of various cultures and viewpoints. Columbia University should be ashamed of completely undermining its own responsibility to promote civil discourse and understanding by the way it conducted President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's visit.

Letter: How to get a world without hunger

October 1, 2007
Editor: The excellent editorial by Adam Kirk ("Fasting helps one understand others," Sept. 27) neglected to mention an important way we can all personally help end world hunger: eat plants. Raising animals for food uses far more resources than growing vegetables, grain or beans.
