Sounds from the sideline

September 11, 2007
Just two games into the season, the grumbling over offensive coordinator Andy Ludwig is getting louder. It's also getting personal. Moments after the Utes finished with their apathetic rendition of "Utah Man," Ludwig was the caboose of the trail of Utes making their way to the locker room.

The world famous Hawaiian Ironman Triathlon is comprised of a 2.4-mile swim in the open ocean, a 112-mile bike ride and a full 26.2-mile marathon run. I am no ironman. I don't know what metal to compare myself to, probably something more like copper or aluminum.

Scouting the enemy

By By Jason Peterson September 11, 2007
Sometimes it's best to take a look ahead -- especially with a memory like Saturday's 20-12 loss to Air Force still fresh and smoldering on the minds of Utah fans. Unfortunately, the weekend ahead doesn't promise to be a path of lilacs and daffodils -- a steamroller would be more accurate.

David Silver wanted a voice, so he started a blog. "In America we're constantly being pegged as consumers -- how do we become citizens?" asked Silver, an assistant professor of media studies at the University of San Francisco and co-founder of the September Project.

Congress passes bill raising student aid, re-vamping student loans

By By Rochelle McConkie September 11, 2007
The U.S. Congress passed a bill last week that will boost college financial aid to $20 billion, taking money from government-subsidized lenders to increase Federal Pell Grants and decrease fixed-interest rates for student loans. U administrators said this would provide more money for students who need loans.
