Students need real-world employment

By By Eric Evans January 28, 2009

Students should not turn away from the possibility of working while enrolled, despite modern difficulties of finding suitable employment. Extreme efforts could and should be made by all students to find reasonable employment that fit their needs, using the connections and advice of the U's Career Center and career counselors.

Legislature ignores people’s voice

January 27, 2009

I suppose the majority in the Legislature feel they know what is best or assume that the public is too stupid or ill-informed to be qualified to weigh in.

Gay rights bills need support

By By John Hannon January 27, 2009

In a state that will likely not support same-sex unions anytime in the foreseeable future, these bills are perhaps, at the very least, an important step toward tolerance.

Sex should have meaning

By By Spencer Merrick January 27, 2009

Now is the time when we build habits that shape the rest of our lives8212;if fidelity is not a priority now, it is unlikely to be in the future. Online texts a better option

By By Eric Evans January 26, 2009

The U bookstore should make eBooks available, or at least bring them to the awareness of students. Although not everyone will jump at the opportunity, those who do will transform from students seeking the convenience to boost their morale into happier, less weighed down and less stressed students of the future.

By By Liz Carlston January 26, 2009

A $3.7 million one-night stand might set Dylan up financially for life, but she's also looking at a lifetime of remorse and emptiness by selling out and refusing to develop life's hard-earned character traits. It's disgusting.

Cuts lead to more spending

By By Ross Solomon January 23, 2009

These budget cuts must be better balanced, instead of laying a huge weight on social services. If this does not happen, the results will be ugly. It is likely that more government funding will be spent in the long run and the social consequences will affect all of us.

Go the extra mile for clean air

By By James Sewell January 23, 2009

I'm not saying you need to use public transit at all times and in all cases, but wearing an extra layer or two and hopping back on that bike, or throwing on those waterproof boots and using your God-given feet to get you somewhere is not nearly as bad as you would let yourself believe.
