Utah can’t afford to export water

By By John Stafford April 1, 2009

I'm not going to forecast a Malthusian doomsday, but Western states need to start taking a serious look into how many people can be supported by our fragile ecosystems. Sustainability is the solution, and if that takes some form of population control, so be it because the West is already thirsty.

When will Dean Newman stop?

April 1, 2009

When will the dean's farcical campaign end, and these two professors be restored to the Middle East Center where they belong?

It’s time to get real with contraceptives

By By Jonathan Deesing and By Jonathan Deesing March 31, 2009

So don't allow yourself to be dissuaded from logic and reason by the seducing "facts" presented by social conservatives. You'll find that life is much more enjoyable when you aren't being scared stupid.

Pedestrian bridge would make campus travel safer, convenient

By By Steven Warrick and By Steven Warrick March 31, 2009

Building a pedestrian bridge across 500 South and South Campus Drive would be convenient for those students who park at the parking lot on Guardsman Way. It would go a long way in preventing auto-pedestrian accidents on the two streets and would facilitate the evacuation of that side of campus.

U.S. News rankings system not as reliable as it seems

By By Jeffrey Jenkins and By Jeffrey Jenkins March 31, 2009

Student rankings should also be instituted to offer a young and current perspective on the various institutions. Although U.S. News can serve as a helpful guide, it is not as reliable as the magazine would like you to think.

Conservatives aren?t being silenced

March 30, 2009

"We are the victims!" I love listening to age-old conservative rhetoric. The pitiful argument posited by Drew Conrad ("We must stop liberals silencing conservatives," March 30) has so many holes in it I could use it to strain my spaghetti.

Conservatives can?t be taken seriously

March 30, 2009

I recognize that conservatism is not dead, least of all on the U campus. I would argue, however, that it has reached a point of near-paralysis. Unless and until the conservative movement can offer more than tax cuts and "drill, baby, drill," they shouldn't expect to be taken seriously by anyone.

Conservative voices aren’t underrepresented

March 30, 2009

It's terrible that people in Utah and the nation are not exposed to conservative ideas and voices. It's obvious to everyone not seduced by "radical liberals" that only by listening to red-blooded conservative voices as Carlston and Conrad are telling us to, we will have the great economy we are enjoying today and the Iraqi children will all be riding ponies.

Conrad has unfounded ideology

March 30, 2009

Conrad believes that science is not logical and using it as a basis for argument is a problem. Let me repeat that, Conrad thinks science is not logical.
