Utah has not traveled to take on Oregon State in Corvallis since March 2006, when it edged the then-No. 10 Beavers 196.675 to 196.6. But head coach Greg Marsden, who has a 14-6 all-time record in Corvallis, knows it's never a walk in the park.

Utah sophomore Kyndal Robarts is ready and to make her season debut in competition this weekend in the Red Rocks' trip to Corvallis, Ore., to take on the Oregon State Beavers.

A week after Utah and Georgia held a rare Monday meet, dropping Utah and Georgia's scoring average to third and fourth in the country respectively, the two teams8212;which started the season No. 1 and No. 28212;returned to their respective positions.

Gymnastics head coach Greg Marsden was concerned about the possibility of a letdown after a cross-country trip to Georgia left Utah empty-handed Jan. 19. The Utes responded Saturday with their best scoring night of the season.

With three events in the books, and the teams tied, it came down to the final event8212;and the Gym Dogs defended their turf and edged out the Red Rocks for the win.

Despite a loss to No. 1 Georgia on Monday, Utah is as much in the hunt for a national championship as it was before the meet started.

In the end, Utah faltered on beam and Georgia cleaned up on floor and the defending National Champions edged Utah 197.150 to 196.725.

The Red Rocks will leave Salt Lake City on Saturday morning to make the cross-country trip to Athens, Ga., the site of last year's national championships.

Friday night's meet against UCLA was bittersweet for head coach Greg Marsden and the Red Rocks.

It was junior Jamie Deetscreek who walked away with the all-around title when it was all said and done. Even more impressive is that it was Deetscreek's first time on floor for Utah, and therefore her first time competing in the all-around.
