Women’s Hoops Fifth in MWC

January 3, 2002
While no one was expecting the Utah women's basketball team to replicate last year's feat of going 28-4 and reaching the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament, this season's rather lackluster 7-5 start is not quite what anyone had in mind, either. True, the Utes did lose two starters and their top reserve from the best team in program history, but they also returned enough talent to garner five first-place votes and finish second to Colorado State in the MWC preseason poll.

U officials are preparing to respond to state lawmakers' questions and concerns involving the campus' concealed weapons policy. The crunch has frustrated faculty and students alike, but with little land to build new lots on and not enough money to build a garage, the U will rely on public transportation.

By , , , and January 3, 2002
It is always someone else's fault. Students blame the bookstore. The bookstore blames the publishing companies. The publishing companies blame the faculty and the students. The cycle is vicious. And that cycle is repeating itself as it does every semester when students fork over a wad of cash in exchange for either new or used textbooks.
