Wellness Week Begins

To increase awareness of campus resources for maintaining physical and mental health, several campus organizations are sponsoring events in Wellness Week beginning this Monday.

The Alcohol and Drug Education Center (ADEC), which educates the university community about consequences of chemical use and abuse, sponsors the substance-free Halloween party Monday night.

On Tuesday, the Salt Lake Organizing Committee will set up a course on campus for the Gold Medal Mile walk. Participants will receive an Olympic pin after completion. Miss Teen Utah Nicole Hansen will speak about her past experiences with club drugs that night.

The week’s main event is the Wellness Fair, formerly the Health Fair. It will have a blood drive, free health screenings and analyses, musical performances, along with information and products on health and safety.

Ending the week is ADEC’s Alcohol Screening Day. A brief questionnaire will help participants identify alcohol abuse problems.
