Football adds wide receiver for 2005 season

In a move that should help the Utes’ depleted receiving core, Utah has signed junior college transfer Freddie Brown Jr.

The 6-foot-3-inch wideout comes from Citrus College in California. Because he redshirted during his first and only season there, Brown will have the full four years of eligibility when he arrives at the U, and plans to compete for playing time right away.

As a senior at Damien High School, Brown had 45 receptions and four touchdowns. He appeared in a post-season prep all-star game, where he pulled a back muscle-an injury that contributed to his redshirting at Citrus.
