U victorious in rivalry food drive

By Jade Gray

While the Utes may not have succeeded in defeating their rival in the football game this year, they were successful in beating BYU for the annual Rivalry Week food drive.

The U triumphed over BYU for the second year in a row, donating a total of $27,965 in monetary donations from students, faculty and community members, an amount that more than doubled BYU’s contribution of $13,377.

All proceeds from both drives went to the Utah Food Bank to help feed hungry Utahns during the holiday months.

The U set a new record in donations during the football game, where $5,804 was earned for the food drive.

Many community businesses and community members also contributed to the cause, including the U Bookstore, which raised $2,215, and Del Taco, which donated $4,678.
