U football ready for Texas A&M

September 4, 2003
The U football team (1-0) is heading to College Station, and it faces brutal odds against a tough Texas A&M squad. But, like the Utes, the Aggies are also going through a transitional phase with a new coach. After R.C. Slocumb was fired last season, Dennis Franchione took over and has had to go through the same kinds of problems and growing pains the Utes are going through.

“The Muss” energizes Meyer’s new-look Utes

September 4, 2003
As last Thursday's Utah-Utah State football showdown wound down to its final moment-with the Utes ahead by a comfortable margin-fans began to gradually file out of Rice-Eccles Stadium, just like any other football game. The stands slowly began to empty out, most of them pleased with the result of the U's season opener.

Each opponent has yet to lose this season, and each one poses a serious test for the Utes.

The Chrony’s 2003 – 2004 NFL Preview

September 4, 2003
And here it is-the greatest 150 days of the year. Football season. Five months of heaven, 22 weeks of bliss. And with that comes arguing, bickering, bitching and moaning over who will win what, who's overrated, who's getting fired, what's the over-under and, of course, who in your group of friends knows the most about football.

Letter to the Editor: Football turnout was impressive

By and September 4, 2003
Editor: Interesting. The team ranked dead last in the country comes to town and we draw the eighth largest crowd in stadium history. I'm not sure how that fails to impress, but hey, I think [Tye Smith's] Aug. 29 article, "Local crowd failed to impress," failed to impress [me], so I guess that's how it goes.

Volleyball team looks to turn things around

September 4, 2003
It's going to take a much different performance than what the team showed last weekend, but the U volleyball team (1-2) looks to get back on track when it returns home to host the Utah Classic at Crimson Court this weekend. The tournament kicks off Friday, as the Utes open up against Washington State.

A very dangerous one two combination

By By Jason Hardy September 4, 2003
After hearing about the assembly which met in opposition to U.S. Attorney General John Ashcroft's "VICTORY" tour in downtown Salt Lake City last Monday, I decided to do a little probing-you know, to find some dirt. When talking about Johnny from Missouri, the ground is littered with it.
