By and September 3, 2003
Things used to be so nice and simple. Letter to the Editor: Language is a reflection of society

By and September 3, 2003

By and September 3, 2003
For U sophomore Brad Lewis, it was all about the love of the game. "I wasn't playing any sports when I entered college and I wanted to play," he said. "I saw this flier hanging up about an intramural soccer team and I decided to join." After paying a minimal fee, Lewis began playing weekly soccer games that were organized and officiated by the U's Intramural Sports Department-a department of the U's Campus Recreation Services.

AFC West: Raiders set to dominate again

September 2, 2003
Not one team in the AFC West finished with a losing record last season, and the conference's Super Bowl representative came from the division. The same will happen this season, but the Oakland Raiders are a year older and the other teams in the division are getting closer and closer to dethroning them.

The Chronicle’s View: U should be concerned with enhancing educational quality, not public perception

By and September 2, 2003
Recently in his "State of the U" address, Bernie Machen said of the U, "We will no longer be the safe fallback school for everyone in the state. We are moving toward real selectivity and excellence in our educational programs." Such a statement has many discussing what it means for the U to be labeled a fallback school in the state.
