The '60s were a time of riots, rebellion and rivalry. David Chesley Briscoe was interested in what was going on, which is why he worked for The Daily Utah Chronicle his junior year at the U. Briscoe later became political editor and finally associate editor for The Chronicle.

If there is one thing I have learned this year, it is that The Chronicle has three kinds of readers. One would think that given the number of students at the U, thousands upon thousands of people from different backgrounds, drawing on a diverse range of experiences would read The Chrony, but nope, there's just three.

ASUU Leaders Fulfill Most Campaign Promises

Unlike most elected political parties, this year's administration fulfilled most of its promises in its platform. Those not fulfilled were because of other already existing programs. Some of the main programs created by the Associated Students of the University of Utah included two additional scholarships, Rock the Vote week and leadership conferences.

More Than 6,800 Students to Walk On Friday, May 2

More than 6,800 students from 43 countries, 45 U.S. states and 21 Utah counties will receive degrees from the U at a May 2 graduation ceremony. Of the 6,843 degrees to be handed out, 5,222 are bachelor's, 1,058 are master's and 311 are doctoral degrees.

Earth Day Celebration Not As Well Attended as Hoped

With substantially less people in attendance throughout the day than was originally anticipated, Tuesday's seventh annual Earth Day at the U was still a success by other definitions, according to organizers from the student group Terra Firma and other participants.

Gay U Skier Becomes Role Model for Others

Ryan Quinn describes coming out to his family and friends as "terrifying," but the decision to come out to his fellow U ski team members was even tougher. Though the Alaska native realized he was attracted to males in high school, he pushed those feelings aside and focused on sports.
