Health Academy Holds Graduation

Maryam Shahrebani, a student from East High School, spoke to a crowd of her peers at the closing ceremony of the Health Professions Academy Tuesday morning. The ceremony, held in the Marriott Library's Gould Auditorium, commemorated the efforts of more than 80 high school students from East, West and Highland High Schools for their participation in the academy.

Feb. 4, 2003-April 8, 2003-As the world watched a coalition of U.S.-led forces invade Iraq and eventually topple Saddam Hussein's regime, the Middle East Center presented a nine-part lecture series that analyzed the conflict from all sides. Scholars, politicians and journalists found themselves speaking to standing-room only crowds in the Waldemer Read and Dumke Auditoriums, from topics ranging from the war's impact on Shiite Muslims to the French reaction to American involvement in Iraq.

Only one competition remains as the No. 8 U gymnastic team tries to win its 11th national title at the NCAA Championships, which begin on April 24. No. 2 Nebraska, No. 4 Georgia, No. 6 Stanford, No. 9 Florida and No. 17 Auburn will match-up with the Utes in the evening session of the championships.

Editor: We appreciate the front page coverage the April 21 Chronicle article "Middle East Peace Panels Held at U," gave to three of the nine panels which were part of the "Working for Peace in the Middle East" conference. Chronicle readers will probably get a mistaken impression of the overall content of the conference, however, because those articles focused on the most controversial comments made by the speakers during the conference.

Baseball Canceled Vs. SUU, Plays at New Mexico Next

The final game of a three-game series between the Utah and Southern Utah baseball teams was canceled on Tuesday due to rain and snow in Cedar City. The Utes and T-birds split a doubleheader on Monday, with Utah taking the first game 4-2 and Southern Utah winning the nightcap 8-4 after the Utes a 4-3 lead in the eighth inning.

Me, Sntimental? After 3 Years, It's Hard Not to Be Rory Brunner But it's my last day. I didn't want to do too much when I got to work Tuesday. After all, it was my last day at the good ol' Chron, the place I've called home for the past three years, as we do not print on Reading Day or during Finals Week.

When I was in seventh grade at Midvale Middle School, my literature teacher, Mrs. Harper, talked a lot. She talked about how she came from Michigan and what she thought of Utah. She talked about books, politics, sports and hormonal changes. She was stern.
