The U softball team came across an unlikely breakout performance at the plate in their pair of wins over New Mexico, as freshman outfielder Lynsey Wall blasted three home runs against the Lobos. After she went 0-2 on her 19th birthday in Utah's 5-0 loss to Colorado State, she rebounded in tremendous fashion.

With two weeks to prepare for the 2003 NCAA Championships, the U gymnastics team is looking to carry over its momentum from the North Central Regionals last week into nationals. But right now, it seems as if the Utes' bodies are worn from the regional tournament and it will take the full two-week layover to be back in competitive condition.

Editor: Jasyn Jones' April 14 column, "Admit It: The Wage Gap Is Gone" showed Jones does not understand the nature of the wage gap dilemma. While some studies indicate that women working in the same fields, with the same skills, doing the same jobs do earn close to the same as their male counterparts, the fact remains that women, overall, earn less than men.

Students Honor Teachers with ASUU Awards

Students and faculty gathered to award professors for their teaching efforts. The Student Choice Awards, held in the Rosenblatt House on April 15, was hosted by the student government. The Associated Students of the U's Academic Affairs Board created the event in 1993 in an attempt for students to show their appreciation for specific teachers.

Editor: On April 14, Ryan Wixom wrote a thoughtless letter to the editor ("Where Do You Draw the Lines of Life") on the subject of animal experimentation that misrepresented the purpose behind SOAR's encampment on the free speech area next to the Union.
