For Jessica Sturm, a senior in marketing and business administration, the choice to attend college was simple. "I was brought up learning that college is what you do," she said. Small Mistakes Hold Red Rocks Back

By and February 6, 2003
The only thing that held the U gymnastics team (2-2) back from reaching a score of at least 197.00 and caused the team to fall out of the top spot in the rankings were the major errors. But U gymnastics coach Greg Marsden isn't worried about it. "You know the people that made the mistakes were people that don't usually make those mistakes, and it was uncharacteristic of the them so I can't really be worried about it," Marsden said.

Letter to the Editor: Bring Back the Spirit of Protest

By and February 6, 2003
Editor: Ever since some time around November 2001, I've been thinking that the good old protest songs of the 1960s and 1970s could use a revival. I'm hoping that the spirit of peace will be revived as well. The war against Iraq is looking more and more like Vietnam to me, which may explain some crazy urges to grow my hair out long and play eternal choruses of "Where Have All the Flowers Gone?" If most Americans are against attacking Iraq, why doesn't anyone do anything about it? It's obvious to me that if people want change, they need to do something about it.

The Madness of King George Tops $160M

By and February 6, 2003
Catherine the Great. William the Conqueror. Vlad the Impaler. Conan the Barbarian. A simple word sure can put a stamp on someone's legacy, can't it? The past has proven that those with such power, influence or prestige will be remembered forever in the annals of history, for better or worse.

Ski Team Trying to Get Over the Hump

By and February 6, 2003
The U ski team may not be the top team in the nation right now, but it can't complain about the way things are going. The Utes have placed no lower than second in any of the previous invitationals thus far, and coach Kevin Sweeney is aiming at maintaining the consistency.

Dealing with classes, new relationships, jobs and extracurricular activities, many college students express feelings of stress. Christi Youd, the founder of the Organize Enterprise, has what she calls a proven solution in an old-fashioned word--organization.

Life Goes on After the Sale of The Tribune

By and February 5, 2003
Four simple words: I told you so. Last summer when I wrote a column arguing the sale of The Salt Lake Tribune to Denver-based media magnate Dean Singleton did not mean the end of life as we know it, I received letter after letter hounding me for being a short-sighted moron.

Letter to the Editor: Tijuana Trip Students Speaks Out

By and February 5, 2003
Editor: I would like to put the whole Tijuana incident into perspective for all of those who weren't there, and since I was, I will let everyone know what really happened. First of all, our intent in going was not to get "plowed" or "plastered" as previous articles have made it sound (In fact, no one got drunk who was there.
