Did you see last Monday night's game with the Tennessee Titans and Baltimore Ravens? What a finish! That was incredible! The end was basically determined by the officials' decision. Contrary to what the Titan fans may think, the officials' ultimate decision was 100 percent perfect.

U Offers Free Diabetes Screening

It is estimated that in the United States nearly 16 million people, or 6 percent of the population, have diabetes. About one-third of those are thought to be undiagnosed, and those receiving treatment often do not follow the required regiment to control the disease.

U Employees Asked to Give to Family Fund

It's not quite Christmas, but at the U, 'tis the season for giving. The University of Utah Development Office is sending out thousands of pamphlets asking employees to donate to the U as part of an annual in house donations drive called the Family Fund. The money can be given to the department or auxiliary of the donors' choice, said Jeff Driggs, director of Annual Givings.

Making the Connection: The Best Buddies Club Provides Friendships for the Disabled

While Disabilities Awareness Week will end in a few short days, the Best Buddies Club carries on the message of understanding and respect all year long. According to Deric B. van Bree, the president of the U's chapter, the program's purpose is to pair college students with intellectually disabled people.

Counseling Center Offers Holiday Coping Strategies

Pigging out is not the answer to coping with holiday stress, the Counseling Center says. "Anticipating the holiday season can be challenging and stressful," said Lauren Weitzman, a psychologist working at the U's Counseling Center. According to Weitzman, everyone has their own brand of the holidays.

Huntsman Cancer Honors Greeks for Giving

Because greek houses get so much negative attention, recognizing their accomplishments is important, said Ray Olson, director of development for the Huntsman Cancer Institute. On Monday, the cancer institute recognized the greek society for their $2,500 donation, which will go to the cancer institute's care and research programs.

U.S. Moves to Fill National Oil Reserve

WASHINGTON?Amid a world oil glut and declining prices, the United States is moving for the first time to fill its emergency petroleum reserve to its full 700 million-barrel capacity over the next few years. President Bush on Tuesday directed that the reserve be filled "in a deliberate and cost effective manner," beginning as soon as possible to protect against oil- supply disruptions.
