Intercollegiate Delegates Chosen

The 16 delegates and three staff members representing the University of Utah in the statewide student legislature have been chosen. The Utah Intercollegiate Assembly is the legislative branch of the Utah Student Association, a lobbying group representing the 120,000 students in the state's higher education system.

Mexico Most Important Country to U.S.

The relationship between Mexico and the United States is "infinitely complex," according to Jeffrey Davidow, U.S. ambassador to Mexico. The relationship is so complex, he said, that Mexico is the most important country to the United States. Davidow spoke about the changing relationship between the United States and Mexico in an address at the Hinckley Institute of Politics.

Soccer Season Is Officially Over as Utes Miss NCAAs

The Utah soccer team met together Monday afternoon to watch the announcement of the teams invited to the NCAA Tournament set to begin this week. They went away disappointed. The NCAA once again overlooked Utah when issuing invitations. Even the expansion of the playing field from 48 teams to 64 teams didn't give the Utes a spot.

Volleyball Exceeded Its Own Expectations

Coming into the season, University of Utah volleyball coach Beth Launiere was not expecting the type of success the team has had thus far, finishing its pre-MWC Tournament schedule at 19-5 overall, and placing second in the conference at 11-3. "If you told me that we would only have five losses at the end of the season, I would be very surprised, and very happy," Launiere said.

Football Is Where It Expected to Be

A year ago, the Utah football team was supposed to win the conference, but went 4-7 instead. This year, the Utes were picked to finish but sixth in the MWC, and now they're in a position to knock off a top-10 ranked and undefeated team, win the league title and advance to a postseason bowl berth.
