For running a motion offense, the Utah men's basketball team sure did a lot of standing around Friday night against Utah State. Between the seeming lethargy and getting out-hustled and out muscled by their scrappy, energetic opponents, the Utes dropped their first game of the year in getting manhandled by the Aggies 78-65.

Utah State U. pres seeks funding to open genomics center

LOGAN?Looking to expand the quality and caliber of Utah State University's academic and competitive reputation, President Kermit Hall is petitioning the Utah Legislature for money to fund a genomic center at USU. "Because we are a land grant university with a history in agriculture and engineering and science, genomics is a logical next step for this institution," Hall said.

Students, Teachers Get Help With Genetics

Consequences of these discoveries range from new disease treatments to ethical issues. To help the public keep up with this burgeoning scientific field, the Eccles Institute of Human Genetics set up the Genetic Science Learning Center in 1994 to help fill the void of up-to-date resources available.

Jameson takes 39th at NCAA Cross Country

A season filled with repeated wins and dominating finishes came to a close on University of Utah cross country runner Teren Jameson, as the NCAA Championships took place on Nov. 19. Jameson was the only member of the Utah cross country team to compete in the championships, since the team did not qualify for the meet at the Mountain Region Championships.

Students Asked to Drink Responsibly

Although the weather was not as cold as they expected it to be, members of the Student Advocacy Office warmed and informed students Tuesday during this month's student advocacy forum. As student advocates handed out hot chocolate, mugs, bookmarks and frisbees during lunchtime, they offered information to passing students about alcohol and the effects of drinking and driving.
