Rebels Outrun Utes 72-64

Although the Utah men's basketball team (17-5, 7-2 MWC) started the game on an 11-0 run and held double digit leads throughout the first half, UNLV (13-8, 5-4) rallied for a 72-64 win in Las Vegas on ESPN's Big Monday. The Rebels forced 22 U turnovers and grabbed 14 offensive rebounds, and commanded the game after a 21-4 run late in the second half.

Cullen’s Shooting Leads U to Win Over Aztecs

8{6\8vH?n's basketball team used its slow down, grind out, hot three point shooting formula to bounce back from its first conference loss to paste host San Diego State 70-53 Saturday afternoon at Cox Arena. Jeff Johnsen tied a career high with 20 points on 5-9 threes, and Phil Cullen added 18 points (14 in the first half), as Utah improved to 17-4, 7-1 Mountain West Conference.

Canadians Party in Union Building

Amidst red and white banners and a giant, inflated maple leaf, the Canadian Olympic Association welcomed their athletes to Salt Lake City. The celebration took place in the Union building, one of many locations that are housing international delegations. Former Olympians and government officials welcomed and encouraged the athletes in both French and English.

Poverty Protests End in Arrests

The Kappa Sigma chapter at the U may lose its charter. Dean of Students Stayner Landward contacted Kappa Sigma national Monday, requesting the fraternity lose its charter, which would mean the end of Kappa Sigma at the U. "I take no pleasure in doing this," Landward said.
