Earning Success Now Dependent Upon Good Shtick

January 22, 2002
Back in the Stone Ages of Human Thought?you know, when people believed that polyester jumpsuits made a fashion statement and BetaMax was the future of video?it was assumed that what you knew actually counted for something. Of course, as we evolved and progressed?right into leopard-print spandex pants, neon leg-warmers and cell phones so big they came equipped with compartments to hold your briefcase?we, of course, came to the realization that it's not what you know, but who you know.

Editor: I'd like to respond to Wilson Fatongia's Jan. 22 letter to the editor, "Weapons at U Detrimental to Focus" in which he argues against the logic of permitting guns on campus. Far be it from me to poke fun at a well thought-out or cohesively delivered argument.

January 22, 2002
A collective groan came from Greek Row this weekend after fraternity Kappa Sigma received 52 alcohol citations from the Salt Lake City Police Department. Of the citations, 40 were for consumption of alcohol by minors. The other 12 were for serving alcohol to minors.

Kappa Sigma in Alcohol Trouble

By By Adam Benson January 22, 2002
In the wake of a weekend fraternity party that resulted in 52 alcohol-related citations, Kappa Sigma is under fire from U officials and the Greek Council. Though no other fraternities or sororities were involved in last Saturday's incident, the effect is a lingering one in the eyes of some of the neighbors who live next to the fraternity houses.
