Alcohol laws should be stricter

By By Alicia Williams March 30, 2009

The Combat Meth Act proves electronic I.D. scanning is not an unrealistic scenario. The state of Utah should implement these same standards for all alcohol products purchased, not just for people who look under 35 entering bars. Utah needs to do everything it can to prevent youth's ability to use fake I.D. cards.

Meteorology department changes name

By By Jeremy Thompson, Staff Writer March 30, 2009

The meteorology department's name is so last week. Instead, the department will now be known as the department of atmospheric sciences.

Red Rocks ready, healthy for Western regionals

By By Bryan Chouinard, Staff Writer March 30, 2009

It has been a long layover for the Red Rocks, who haven't competed since their season finale back on March 20 against BYU. In that meet, Utah set its season-high in the all-around, scoring 197.80, which was good enough to be the second-highest score by any team all season long.

Volleyball starts up again

By By Paige Fieldsted, Staff Writer March 30, 2009

After a few months of working on individual strength training and conditioning, the Utah women's volleyball team is back on the court.

March weather interferes with schedule

By By Marco Villano, Staff Writer March 30, 2009

For the third time in the past four days, Utah will have to reschedule because of inclement weather conditions. The Utes were slated to play Utah Valley University tonight, but will have to find another day to do so.

Conrad has unfounded ideology

March 30, 2009

Conrad believes that science is not logical and using it as a basis for argument is a problem. Let me repeat that, Conrad thinks science is not logical.

Conservative voices aren’t underrepresented

March 30, 2009

It's terrible that people in Utah and the nation are not exposed to conservative ideas and voices. It's obvious to everyone not seduced by "radical liberals" that only by listening to red-blooded conservative voices as Carlston and Conrad are telling us to, we will have the great economy we are enjoying today and the Iraqi children will all be riding ponies.

Conservatives can?t be taken seriously

March 30, 2009

I recognize that conservatism is not dead, least of all on the U campus. I would argue, however, that it has reached a point of near-paralysis. Unless and until the conservative movement can offer more than tax cuts and "drill, baby, drill," they shouldn't expect to be taken seriously by anyone.

Conservatives aren?t being silenced

March 30, 2009

"We are the victims!" I love listening to age-old conservative rhetoric. The pitiful argument posited by Drew Conrad ("We must stop liberals silencing conservatives," March 30) has so many holes in it I could use it to strain my spaghetti.

Conrad is misguided

March 30, 2009

Conrad has too many inaccuracies for me to refute them all, so I will just tackle the biggest one: the idea that cutting taxes creates wealth for everyone.
