Hospital reopens after bomb threat

A bomb threat the U Hospital received this morning appears to have been a hoax. After searching the hospital for explosives, police have determined that "it is safe to resume hospital and clinic service," according to a statement posted on the U's Website.

Police announced Wednesday that they have arrested two men and placed a third man in custody for the possession of stolen U Hospital patient billing records, which were recovered Tuesday and appear to not have been accessed.

Hospital billing records for 1.5 million U patients have been recovered, said the Salt Lake County Sheriff's Office on Tuesday. The records contained personal information on former patients from the U Hospitals and Clinics, including physician names, driver's license numbers, insurance information and Social Security numbers.

U seeks more options for public transportation

Instead of driving to the U from downtown, Charles Emmett uses public transportation because increasing gas prices are burning a hole in his wallet. "I do have a car, but pretty much only use that to go to the grocery store once a week," he said. "Hopefully we find some kind of alternative fuel source pretty soon.
