As a patient stares at the ceiling with impaired vision, the doctors work around her, prepping her for surgery on both of her eyes. "Think happy thoughts," Patricia Schane says gently, as the anesthesia starts to lull the 38-year-old patient to sleep. Schane, a certified nurse, has an air bag in her hand to help their chemically paralyzed ward breathe during the surgery.

By By Trevor Hale, Kyle Stegerwald July 2, 2008
he second issue was harder than the first. You'd think it would be the other way around, but that's not the case. U seeks more options for public transportation

By By Jaime Winston July 2, 2008
Instead of driving to the U from downtown, Charles Emmett uses public transportation because increasing gas prices are burning a hole in his wallet. "I do have a car, but pretty much only use that to go to the grocery store once a week," he said. "Hopefully we find some kind of alternative fuel source pretty soon.

Berg: Socialized health care won’t work in U.S.

By By Heather Berg June 25, 2008
If there is one thing I learned while being in pre-med classes for two and a half years, it's that I can't stand it when politicians run around thinking they know what's best about our health care. What about the doctors? Politicians aren't in the hospitals every day taking care of patients, they don't generally know the system firsthand, and they don't have any real experience in the field.
