Lacrosse: Utes sweep Colorado teams

Last weekend might just have been the greatest 48 hours in the history of Utah lacrosse. The Utes (5-6, 2-0 Rocky Mountain Lacrosse Conference) went into their Colorado road trip as huge underdogs -- they had a 1-15 overall record against Colorado and Colorado State over the past six years -- but escaped as the top dogs.

While Sydney Osmun danced and stayed awake for over 26.2 hours last weekend to raise money for the Huntsman Cancer Foundation, her father continued fighting the deadly disease. U grad programs rise in national rankings

The S.J. Quinney College of Law was ranked as the 51st best law school in the country this year, making one of the highest jumps in this year's national rankings compared with other graduate programs at the U. The 2009 report compiled by U.S. News and World Report ranks the nation's best graduate programs.

Students compete for semester in China

Students used their Chinese language skills to compete for a semester-long study abroad trip to China. Speech competitions were held in first-, second- and third-year Chinese language classes and included prizes such as $50 to $200 and a grand prize of a roundtrip airfare to China and a semester's worth of funds to study at Sichuan University.

New Dixie president supports U partnership

The State Board of Regents appointed Stephen Nadauld to be the interim president of Dixie State College on Thursday, after President Lee Caldwell resigned for what Dixie spokesman Steve Johnson said to be "personal and confidential reasons." Regents spokeswoman Amanda Covington said the change in leadership will not affect efforts by the U and Dixie State College to establish a closer affiliation between the two schools.

Senate votes to fund KUTE

Lacrosse travels to Colorado to face two ranked opponents

The Utah (3-6) lacrosse team will be back in action on Friday and Saturday when it travels to Colorado to take on the No. 12 Colorado Buffaloes (2-2) and the No. 4 Colorado State Rams (7-2). Utah will play Colorado on Friday in a key conference game. The Buffaloes will be a tough test for Utah, having lost two games by a combined three goals.

Softball: Lesson learned?

On last week's trip to Fullerton, Calif., for the Judy Garman Classic, the U softball team got a taste of what it's trying to become. Amidst a slew of top-notch competition that featured No. 1 Arizona State and No. 14 DePaul, the Utes happened to catch the nation's best softball team in action.
