Tebow, schmebow. I don't remember hearing so much pomp and fluff for a Heisman Trophy candidate since, well, last year. That's the problem with college football these days -- every facet of the game, from the Heisman Trophy down to the political correctness of a school mascot, is overly hyped, analyzed and recycled all over again.

U to join global warming education event

The U's Academic Senate approved a resolution Wednesday, officially endorsing involvement with Focus the Nation, a national event promoting teach-ins and discussion on issues surrounding global warming. The resolution was sponsored by the U's Office of Sustainability and the SEED student group.

New robot retrieves library books

Next time you visit the U's Marriott Library, a new four-story robot might be able to help you find books. The robot is one of three new systems the library has installed to make it quicker and easier for patrons to obtain information. "We wanted to do everything we could to make the library experience best for users," said Ian Godfrey, the library's facilities and access services manager.

Samba drum and dance class molds music and movement

Arrested student no longer ‘a threat’

U officials are providing few details regarding the student who was arrested after damaging a peer's property and exhibiting behavior that some students said was threatening last week. Lawrence Wright, a second-year architecture student, was taken into custody and questioned by police after showing dangerous behavior and spraypainting a student's desk on Friday.

Year in review: RSL fans ejected for holding Tibetan flag

June 8 Two Real Salt Lake supporters were kicked out of Rice-Eccles Stadium for protesting an exhibition match against the Chinese national team. Waving a Tibetan flag and a sign featuring the date "6-4" written in Chinese, representing the government's shooting of Tiananmen Square protestors which occurred on June 4, 1989, the fans were forced to leave with 20 minutes left to play after a number of Chinese players left the field in disgust.

Year in review: President Clinton visits campus

Nov. 5 Former U.S. President Bill Clinton spoke to a roaring crowd of more than 1,200 supporters in the Union Ballroom. Clinton was in town to raise money for his wife's presidential campaign. He told the crowd that Sen. Hillary Clinton is the best-suited candidate to repair America's standing in the world and repair the partisan divide in Congress.

Tim Tebow for Heisman
