Top three spots on campus to get laid

By By Gabi November 30, 2007
In returning from the day of national thanks -- and collective gluttony -- our friends and loved ones are often left trembling in our gravy scented wake. We've trotted off to our various homes and succumbed to the soporific effects of tryptophan and family.

The Word: Chronicle’s guide to the SLC music scene

By By Makena Walsh November 30, 2007
My first acquaintance with Loom was on a Halloween evening spent at a bar undeserving of mention in this column. Despite my regrettably inadequate surroundings, the post-punk/hardcore group's engaging auditory assault proved an adequate escape from my dismal physical location.

Dance department mourns death

By By Carlos Mayorga November 30, 2007
During the past five years, when students would gather in the passageways of the Modern Dance building to eat lunch, Satu Hummasti had become accustomed to hearing Chance Anderson's distinct, infectious laugh almost every day. Anderson, a senior in modern dance, had a few more classes to finish before he was supposed to graduate -- an accomplishment he will never complete.

Performing prematurely — with an audience

Keeping oneself together as the oppression of finals week draws closer can prove quite a struggle, but try facing that task a week in advance. This weekend, seven of the U modern dance department's third-year graduate students will reveal the results of years of research and training. There's no pressure on these graduate students in their final year at the U -- they're about to showcase the culmination of their graduate careers.

Bob Dylan is all there

By By C. Glen Bellamy and November 30, 2007
You don't know anything about Bob Dylan. That means you, kid -- yeah you, the one in the back. The one who spent all your isolated, disaffected high school years singing his folk songs and copying his style, the one who spent an unseemly sum for a vintage first-edition vinyl copy of Blood on the Tracks.

Slow start, big finish

November 29, 2007
OGDEN -- Whenever the Runnin' Utes got punched in the chops early last year it was a pretty good indication that a rout was on the horizon. Last night, the U men's basketball team got hit in the mouth early by the Weber State Wildcats and a landslide came tumbling after.

Jesus wouldn’t wear an ugly sweater

By By Ryan Shattuck November 29, 2007
There's just something about Christmas time that makes me want to have tiny crackers with tiny pieces of salami with a tiny jar of mustard and a mint. Not too much! Don't make it too big! I don't want to spoil the spirit of Christmas by having crackers too big with too much salami and a normal-sized jar of mustard.
