October 22, 2007
The advantage of the U volleyball team venturing into the conference schedule for the second time this season is that the Utes should be more familiar with their conference opponents. The problem is that the opponents also have a better understanding of the Utes.

Dealing with the identity crisis

By By Cody Brunner October 22, 2007
Being the beat writer for Utah football, I often get asked what I think of the team or how I think it will finish the season. My response is always the same-which Utah team are we talking about? Are we talking about the one that can beat Top-25 teams at will? Or the one that got shut out by UNLV? When the Utes are rollin' they are almost unbeatable.

Letter: Pappas was right about one thing — cookies

Opening up about the ‘N-word’

By By Carlos Mayorga October 22, 2007
The "N-word" is often used carelessly in media and music, and in most cases, people are uninformed about the deep, hurtful meanings behind it, a scholar from Chicago told a crowd of about 100 students and faculty Thursday. "My talk is not to change people's practice, but I want them to think about the word and think about the context and the historical usage," said David Stovall, a professor in the department of policy studies at the University of Illinois in Chicago.

Print, online media can co-exist

By By Ana Breton October 22, 2007
Print or online. Ginger or Mary Ann. Print and online journalists need to stop worrying about which form of media will prevail, much like the public needs to stop worrying about which "Gilligan's Island" character was hotter-Mary Ann or Ginger-Arianna Huffington said.
