Bus redesign implemented

By By Rochelle McConkie September 4, 2007
Despite initial outrage, UTA's new bus-route system brought little protest from most riders since its implementation. Some changes the Utah Transit Authority made included renumbering all UTA bus routes, increasing the number of "fast buses" and routes operating on 15-minute intervals, adding routes to and from the U and cutting some stops downtown to add more access to the suburbs.

By By Rochelle McConkie August 31, 2007
The ASUU Senate unanimously passed a bill Thursday night granting $25,000 to the new recycling program, adding the "student portion" to the $350,000 put out by the U administration for the cause. Beckham-less Galaxy next on tap for RSL

By By Jon Gilbert August 31, 2007
With the sun setting on its playoff hopes, Real Salt Lake found a way to freeze time -- if only for a few weeks. The scoring explosion contradicts Real's season-long offensive inadequacy and gives charge to playoff aspirations.

You gotta laugh

By By Adam Kirk August 31, 2007
This isn't quite the life I had imagined coming home from a mission. As I sat next to my mother at the U's orientation meeting, I kept looking over at a cute girl and imagining how to casually ask her out. It didn't take long to notice that there were about 1,000 students that were stunningly beautiful who made the other 28,000 of us look butt-ugly.

Free speech protects your enemies, too

By By Ryan Shattuck August 31, 2007
In his 1988 book Manufacturing Consent: The Political Economy of the Mass Media, Noam Chomsky boldly states: "Goebbels was in favor of free speech for views he liked. So was Stalin. If you're in favor of free speech, then you're in favor of freedom of speech precisely for views you despise.

Vick kills dogs, Bush kills people

August 31, 2007
Before I get into the defense of Michael Vick, let me preface it with this admission: I don't think it's okay to kill dogs, and the violent acts Vick committed certainly suggest the man is capable of worse. Yeah, he should probably be locked up. Hopefully it jars some sense into him -- maybe he'll feel the chill of a cell the next time he contemplates violence.
