"I don't want to give this one away," said acting professor Barbara Smith, director of the U theatre department's upcoming production of Euripides' Helen. "Unlike a lot of Greek scripts, this one's really plot-driven," she said. Based on Helen of Troy and with a translation by Kenneth McLeish, Euripides' Helen elaborates on a tale suggested by the lyric poet Stesichorus.

Editor: In response to Tiara C. Fuller's column ("Clubs on campus are racist and divisive," Aug. 1), I totally agree. Where are the clubs and get-togethers for whites, and how about white heteros? And no one of other ethnic groups or sexual persuasions can come to those! And how about a white hetero parade day? And how about a day for people who want normal sex? Just some good old kissing and in and out.

The Chronicle’s view: ASUU needs to follow through on campaign promise

We're not yet a week into school, and already campaign promises made by the Associated Students of the University of Utah are coming up short. Last spring, ASUU President Spencer Pearson and Vice President Basim Motiwala campaigned on, among other things, the promise that they would initiate the creation of a website compilation of all scholarships available to U students.

More harm than good

The State of Utah's sexual-education program in public schools is designed to promote abstinence until marriage and awareness about sexually transmitted diseases. Educators are not allowed to teach about contraceptives or abortion, thus causing a lack of knowledge among teenagers that often ends in life-altering pregnancies.

DUI issued at 7-Eleven An officer was parked at a local 7Eleven convenience store when he saw a car pulling over to the side of the road with its door open and a woman leaning out and vomiting. The officer tried to help the woman and the driver and ended up arresting the driver for DUI.
