Great Debate: Tiger’s far from done in quest to surpass Nicklaus

By By Jason Peterson August 22, 2007
Avid golf fans will wholeheartedly agree that Jack Nicklaus was one of the greatest golfers of all time, and arguably the best. Arguably. Any conversation regarding the best golfers in history would have to include one player who is still writing his own legend-Tiger Woods.

Great Debate: Jack Nicklaus still the best

By By Natalie Dicou August 22, 2007
Jack Nicklaus remains the greatest golfer to ever swing a club, and he will keep that distinction until his record of 18 major championships is surpassed. With 13 major titles, Tiger Woods is gaining. Many people believe that it's inevitable: Tiger will reach Jack's mark and leave it in the dust.

Letter: Where’s my club?

August 22, 2007
Editor: In response to Tiara C. Fuller's column ("Clubs on campus are racist and divisive," Aug. 1), I totally agree. Where are the clubs and get-togethers for whites, and how about white heteros? And no one of other ethnic groups or sexual persuasions can come to those! And how about a white hetero parade day? And how about a day for people who want normal sex? Student costs continue to rise

By By Parker Williams August 22, 2007
Before students begin to worry about homework, tests and term papers, there is another, perhaps more pressing, issue students must deal with -- tuition. According to statistics provided by the U, $142 million was earned from tuition and student fees during the 2005-2006 school year.

Tuition increase provides benefits

By By Rochelle McConkie August 22, 2007
Tuition rates aren't likely to decrease anytime soon, U administrators and state legislators said, but they are hopeful that an upward state economy will curb the yearly rise. "It's consistently going up," said Paul Brinkman, associate vice president for budget and planning at the U.

Soldiers are far from traitors

August 22, 2007
I can hear it now from conservative mouths such as Ann Coulter's and Bill O'Reilly's: "They are traitors to our country! They're hurting the morale of the troops!" Sunday, an editorial piece was published on The New York Times editorial page. The article was authored by seven noncommissioned officers of the 82nd Airborne Division who are nearing the end of a 15-month deployment in Iraq.

ASUU scholarship site nixed

By By Arthur Raymond August 22, 2007
A long-time notion to create a centralized website for U scholarship information was laid to rest in a meeting in May attended by representatives from the financial aid department, senior administration and the U student government. In spite of this decision, the Associated Students of the University of Utah and individual departments said they are continuing to work to make students aware of available scholarship funds to offset the cost of a college education.
