The Utes won two matches at the Utah Classic, but couldn't get the win they really wanted as they lost their first home match of the season to No. 15 Purdue.

Utah has had considerable success against the Aggies in the past, winning 10 of the 11 matchups between the two schools. That success continued this weekend with a 2-0 win at Ute field.

The Runnin' Utes solidified their roster at the forward position for 2009 by picking up two players last week.

After taking last week off to focus on training, the Utah cross country team was back in competition on Saturday at the Colorado State Open.

The story will reach a climax with the Utes in only a week when they face an equally undefeated Air Force team in conference play. BYU, on the other hand, will face Wyoming, a team that Air Force beat handily. If Utah wants to keep pace with their southern rival, next week means an awful lot.

You know when you're gawking at an attractive person from afar, and then suddenly, after they've made their way closer, you're eyes adjust, and they were far from good? That also describes Utah's 58-10 win over Utah State, Saturday at Romney Stadium.

Captain Alton "Moose" Carmen and his Ute warriors carried the Crimson aggregation to a smashing 20 to 0 victory over Utah Aggies in the big Turkey Day annual classic in the Ute stadium before 17,000 spectators, Thursday. Their victory netted them the Rocky Mountain Conference championship crown.

No mystery this week, sorry. Utes definitely have the edge against the Aggies.

I have a confession to make. I actually cheered for BYU to block that potential game-tying extra point against Washington last week. I know I gave my only Cougar friend a load of crap for BYU's luck, or what tight end Dennis Pitta called destiny, but secretly I was glad. It turns out BYU was living right off the field last week, and for once I'm OK with that.
