Volleyball team strong in offense, slow on defense

The Utah volleyball team continues to flaunt its power on the front line as the season progresses. The team has a .248 kill percentage and sophomore middle blocker Karolina Bartkowiak leads the Mountain West Conference with a .508 kill percentage.

Most volleyball teams consider themselves lucky if they have one or two go-to power hitters. For head coach Beth Launiere and the Utah women's volleyball team, they have six. After opening the season at the Ute invitational last weekend with games against Utah Valley University and Santa Clara, Utah has a team kill percentage of .281.

The women's volleyball team has made it through summer training and the first three weeks of practice without so much as a glitch. The team is injury-free and ready for the upcoming season, which is something it couldn't say a year ago.
