The political vagina monologues

November 14, 2007
Hillary Clinton has a vagina, and much like Mitt Romney's faith, it has mystified and dominated the political sphere of the news as of late. Being a woman and running for president can't be easy. In fact, it must be tricky having to tiptoe the line that separates ignoring one's womanhood -- to the point of becoming an asexual robot -- from exploiting that womanhood for special treatment.

Letter: Veterans serve proudly, not blindly

November 14, 2007
Editor: Today, as I was walking through the first floor of the Marriott Library, I saw something that caught my eye: a simple poster announcing that on Veterans Day, the Marriott Library remembers veterans. I proudly served this great country for three years in the United States Army.

The Potters were stubborn. The family -- Serena, Franz and their two kids -- wouldn't evacuate their home amid the California wildfires. They didn't leave during an announced voluntary evacuation, or after authorities warned them that the power in the area would eventually go out.

By By Edgar Zuniga Jr. November 14, 2007
Employers weigh a number of factors when choosing a college graduate for a certain position, including major, relevant work experience, communication skills and GPA, U career counselors said. Coaches react to Saturday’s action

By By Jon Gilbert November 13, 2007
Saturday's football contest between Utah and Wyoming at Rice-Eccles Stadium was defined by one word, one kick and one finger. Early in the week leading up to the Mountain West Conference clash, Cowboys head coach Joe Glenn attempted to motivate his troops by issuing a "guarantee" -- a victory against the Utes.

What’s our responsibility as students?

By By Dani Kauerz November 13, 2007
I have been doing a lot of thinking about what our responsibility as students is to our university. After a less-than-positive experience with what can happen when a student suggests a change in curricula, I'm wondering if getting a degree is merely about "playing the game" correctly and following all the rules.

Getting acquainted with some household names

By By Natalie Dicou November 13, 2007
Morgan, Kalee and Leilani should all be household names. They should also be one-name campus stars. But even when I add in their last names: Warburton, Whipple and Mitchell, respectively, those names still might not ring a bell. For those of you in the dark, they're the big three of the Utah women's basketball team.
