Letter to the Editor: Mayor didn’t oppose light rail

Editor: In my letter ("Rocky deserves to be booed," Jan. 25) there is a factual error. I said that Mayor Rocky Anderson had adamantly opposed light rail. That isn't true. I called the Wasatch Front Regional Council and learned that it was Mayor Anderson, now retired, from West Valley City who worked to block light rail initially.

Roberts believes that young people are "getting sick of the stuff on the radio" and are consciously seeking out music "that is worthwhile"-music like that of genre-bending, quiet alterna-poppers Yo La Tengo.

Do you have your library, er, grinder card? On Jan. 6, a man made his way into the Marriott Library, located the tool room and headed for the exit with a grinder. A library employee noticed and followed the man toward the exit. Once the man realized his plan had been discovered, he dropped the grinder, which caused it to break, and ran.

Vote delayed on Accommodations Policy

Members of the Academic Senate on Monday delayed a vote regarding the presented draft of the U's Accommodations Policy until their February meeting. After discussing procedural and philosophical concerns raised by fellow Senate members regarding the policy, the majority of the body deemed the matter too vital to rush a vote.
