Get Your Spook On: Check Out SLC’s Four Best Haunted Houses

It’s nearly the end of October, so if you’re in the mood for a little scare this Halloween season, take a look at this list of the four best haunted attractions in and around Salt Lake City.

Frightmares

Farmington’s amusement park, Lagoon, brings joy in both the summer and in the fall. In the month of October the laughs turn to screams with Frightmares.

Frightmares consists of over seven haunted attractions created to give you goosebumps. You can experience strange, creepy creatures at the Fun House of Fear. You can go through its most chilling haunted houses from the last 20 years at 20 Years of Terror. Test your awareness and enter the Zombie Lockdown or walk through Pioneer Village at the Pioneer Village Scare Zone. Don’t forget to brave the supernatural at the Nightwalk.

Nightmare on 13th

Nightmare on 13th has “consistently been rated Utah’s best haunted attraction and one of the Nation’s top haunted houses,” according to its website. With that in mind, this haunted house is not for the fainthearted.

To celebrate 25 years of operation, Nightmare on 13th is bringing the most popular and most terrifying terrors from the past while simultaneously introducing never-before-seen horrors. It’s around 45 minutes of pure jaw-dropping, mind-numbing horror. You’ll want to bring a friend for safety.

Located on 320 W 1300 South, Nightmare on 13th is sure to aid your haunted Halloween craving.

Fear Factory

Head to the old Portland Cement Company located on 666 W 800 South to experience a factory advertised as actually being haunted.

Built in the late 1800s, the Portland Cement Company drew attention after the gruesome, untimely deaths of some employees. The factory was deemed haunted, and in 2010 was transformed into the Fear Factory. Those interested can take a tour of the factory and may experience real visiting spirits and paranormal activity.

If you want to experience the “real deal” this Halloween, stop by the Fear Factory and beware of ghosts.

Castle of Chaos

If these haunted attractions still don’t seem scary enough, then go to Castle of Chaos on 7980 S State St. At this underground attraction, you can get the complete hands-on experience and fight the terrors that haunt your dreams. With four different levels of experience, Castle of Chaos has something for everyone.

If you choose level one or two, you can expect a very basic, fearful experience. You still see the horror but the actors do not touch you or invade your personal space.

Level three is where things get a little more risky. Actors can touch, grab and mess with you. However, they are not allowed to move you.

Then, there’s level four: X-Scream Hands-On. Actors can drag you around. You can be picked up and split from your group.

This haunted house is for those who are ready to experience their scariest nightmares first-hand.
